On January 24, Consul-General Tang Rui of the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester visited Liverpool to extend regards to overseas Chinese community, sending Spring Festival Gift Kits to local Chinese community residents.
Consul General Tang extended his New Year greetings for the Year of the Snake, emphasizing that China always cares deeply for its overseas compatriots. He highlighted the Consulate General's commitment to the "diplomacy for the people" principle and its dedication to safeguarding the well-being of the Chinese community. He noted that last year marked the 25th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Shanghai and Liverpool and expressed gratitude to the Liverpool Chinese community for their efforts in celebrating this milestone and for their strong support of the Consulate General’s work. He encouraged the community to remain united and continue contributing to friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
Local Chinese residents expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the care and support from their homeland. They noted that although the Spring Festival Gift Kits were small, they carried deep emotional significance, offering both comfort and encouragement. The initiative not only strengthened the cohesion of the Chinese community but also deepened their sense of identity and belonging with China.
