On February 4, Consul General Tang Rui was invited to attend the 2025 Chinese New Year Celebration Banquet hosted by the Northeast Chinese Association in the UK. The event was attended by more than 200 guests, including Newcastle Deputy Mayor Gallagher and other officials, President of the Northeast Chinese Association in the UK Mr. Zeng Xianchu and other community leaders, as well as representatives from various sectors.
Consul General Tang extended his New Year greetings to all attendees, noting that this new year marks the first Spring Festival since its recognition as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. He expressed his delight at seeing more people celebrating the Chinese New Year and thanked the Chinese community for their contributions to fostering China-UK friendship. He also expressed hope for greater achievements in bilateral cooperation across various fields in the coming year. Guests praised the event for bringing joy and good fortune to Newcastle and wished the Chinese community continued success and prosperity.
During his visit to Newcastle, Consul General Tang also met with local Chinese community representatives and sent gift packages to convey warmth and goodwill.
