On 16 October, Consul General Tang Rui met with the Lord Mayor of Sheffield Councillor Colin Ross, at the Sheffield Town Hall, and had in-depth exchange of views on expanding regional cooperation between China and Sheffield.

Consul General Tang Rui said that Sheffield is a major industrial city in central England, abundant with first-class high education institutions and cultural and sports resources. Both sides have a good foundation and great potential for practical cooperation. The purpose of his visit is to strengthen the contact with the city government and other sectors, activate the sister-city relationship between Chengdu and Sheffield, and expand in all aspects the regional cooperation between the two countries in various fields, so as to tap cooperation potential and achieve mutual benefits and win-win results. Consul General Tang also introduced the latest achievements of China and the recent development of China-UK relations.

Cllr Ross introduced to Consul General Tang Rui of Sheffield’s strength in traditional and emerging industries, saying that with the transformation and development of the city, Sheffield urgently needs to expand business contacts with China. He believes that by deepening the sister-city friendship with Chengdu, both sides will further explore cooperation opportunities and help each other achieve better development.
