On 31 October, the Consulate General in Manchester held a Consular Protection on Campus 

activity at the University of Leeds. Consul General Tang Rui attended and addressed at the activity and around 100 Chinese students were present. 

Consul General Tang Rui said that he was very pleased to come to the University of Leeds to have face-to-face communications with Chinese students studying here. “When children travel far from home, mothers never stop worrying”. The consulate is always concerned about the safety issues faced by the Chinese students in their study and life here, and therefore it has organized the “Consular Protection on Campus” activity today, which aims to enhance the students’ safety awareness and preparedness through real-life cases that happened around and help the students to study abroad safely and smoothly. Meanwhile, it is also hoped that during their overseas studies, the students will care about the motherland, study hard, actively engage with local communities, and act as messengers of heart-to-heart communication between the two countries.

The Education Section of the Consulate General provided an overview of the education work in the region and briefed on the application of scholarship program. The Consular Section introduced in detail preventive measures and knowledge against some common cases. The staff of the Bank of China talked about telecommunication frauds.

Students said that the address by Consul General Tang Rui made them feel the care and warmth of the Consulate General, and the relevant information introduced by the consuls helped them to gain a deeper understanding of the security situation in the region and enhance their preparedness. They will study hard to live up to the expectations of the motherland and their families.
