Consul General Tang Rui attends event of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra's UK Tour - Manchester Leg

On 15 March, Consul General Tang Rui was invited to attend event of the Manchester leg of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra's UK tour held at the Bridgewater Hall. Guests from China and the UK, including Mr. Paul Dennett, Deputy Mayor for Greater Manchester and Mayor of Salford, Mr. Rhys Whalley, Executive Director of Manchester China Forum, and Mr. Ma Weihua, Chairman of the Shenzhen Vitalisation Symphony Development Foundation, attended the event.

In his remarks, Consul General Tang Rui welcomed and congratulated the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra on its tour to Manchester, stating that Manchester is a veritable capital of music. The Hallé, one of the oldest professional symphony orchestras in the UK, as well as a number of renowned institutions such as the Royal Northern College of Music and the Chetham's School of Music, are all based in Manchester. It is a city with a deep musical heritage. The Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra's tour to Manchester is a journey of music, of mutual appreciation and of friendship. Consul General Tang believes that the tour will help strengthen the communications and interactions between art institutes and musicians of the two countries, and advance the development of cultural and artistic exchanges between China and the UK. The Chinese Consulate General in Manchester will as always support the two sides to "use music as a medium" to jointly promote the cultural cooperation and contribute to enhancing the people-to-people bond and friendship between the two countries.

The Orchestra performed Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Poème, Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Fountains of Rome, Song of Ali Mountain, Lift Your Veil, Auld Lang Syne, and other masterpieces, presenting the audience with a musical feast blending both Chinese and Western cultural elements.
