On 16 January, Consul General Tang Rui met with Prof. Duncan Ivison, Vice Chancellor of the University of Manchester and exchanged views on further strengthening the educational exchanges, scientific and technological cooperation and talent cultivation between China and the UK.
Consul General Tang Rui expressed his gratitude to the University of Manchester for its long-term contribution to promoting the educational exchanges and scientific and technological cooperation between China and the UK. 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s visit to the University of Manchester and it is hoped that the University could take this opportunity to explore new areas and new forms of cooperation while building on existing collaborations, and continue to contribute to the development of the China-UK relations.
Prof. Duncan Ivison said that the University of Manchester attaches great importance to its cooperation with China. The University will actively implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, carefully review the experience and achievements of bilateral cooperation over the past ten years, and in line of its new 10-year planning, promote and improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation with China in the fields of education, science and technology, healthcare and climate change.
