On November 18, Consul General Tang Rui witnessed the renewal of the tripartite agreement on co-hosting the UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival at Salford Civic Centre. President of the UK Xinhua Chinese Association, Mr. Xu Yanzhong; Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester and Mayor of Salford, Mr. Paul Dennett; and a representative of the UK Dragon Boat Racing Association were present and signed the agreement.

Consul General Tang Rui stated that through years of development, the UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival has grown into an increasingly prominent cultural brand. This year, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, China's Ambassador to the UK, attended the festival for the first time, further elevating its stature and effectiveness. Noting that 2026 marks the centenary of the City of Salford, Consul General Tang expressed his delight that the Dragon Boat Festival has been incorporated into its series of celebratory events. It is believed that the collaborative model, jointly organized by the Chinese community, local government, and professional associations, will contribute to the event's further success and serve as the best possible tribute to Salford on its 100th anniversary.

Since its inception in 2012, the Dragon Boat Festival has been successfully held for eleven editions in Salford, Greater Manchester. It has grown into the largest dragon boat event in Europe and a signature cultural landmark of the city.
