Chinese Consulate General in Manchester held farewell party for Consul General Dr. Sun Dali at Consul General's residence on June 15th, 2018, attended by Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Sir Warren Smith, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester Dr. Robina Shah, Lord Mayor of Manchester Cllr. Hitchen, Derbyshire Council leader Barry Lewis, Mayors of Stockport, Oldham and Tameside as well as about 150 representatives from local Chinese companies, Chinese communities and Chinese students.

 

In his speech, Dr. Sun passionately recounted how the North of England enhanced its links with China on all fronts, how Chinese companies expanded business continuously, how Chinese communities assisted China's development in unison  and how Chinese students and tourists grew in numbers over the past 2 years. He gave full expression to his love and nostalgia in parting with diplomatic career and friends in the consular area as well as gratitude for all support he had received. He said, opportunities abound in the golden era of China-UK relations against the backdrop of quick-paced "Belt and Road" construction. He called on all parties to make concerted efforts to keep promoting China-UK friendship and cooperation onto new heights. 

   
   

 Lord Lieutenant Sir Warren Smith, Lord Mayor of Manchester and leader of Chinese communities commended Dr. Sun's great achievements during his term and expressed reluctance in parting with both an excellent diplomat and a dear friend.
