Consul General Mr. Zheng Xiyuan paid courtesy calls on Councillor June Hitchen, Lord Mayor of Manchester, Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council and Councillor Sue Murphy, deputy council leader at Manchester Town Hall on September 3rd, in the company of Deputy Consul General Mr. Fan Yingjie and Consul Lyu Xiaomei.
Councillor Hitchen and Sir Leese congratulated Zheng on his new post and briefed him on recent development and strengths of Manchester. They commended the great boost Manchester's China link has given to local economic growth and expressed the will to continuously intensifying cooperation with China on all fronts.
Consul General Zheng recognized the importance Manchester City Council has attached to developing cooperation with China and expressed appreciation of its efforts in assisting Chinese community, students, companies and tourists. Zheng anticipated Manchester seize on opportunities presented by the 'Golden Era' of China-UK relations and take an active part in 'Belt and Road'construction.
Consul General also visited Manchester City Football Academy to explore football training cooperation.
