Chinese Consulate General in Manchester Holds National Day Reception

Consul General Mr. Zheng Xiyuan held a grand reception at Manchester Art Gallery on the evening of Sep.26, 2018 in celebration of the 69th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China, which was attended by about 300 people such as the Metro Mayor of Greater Manchester Mr. Andy Burnham, High Sheriff of Greater Manchester Dr. Robina Shah, Lord Mayor of Manchester Cllr. June Hitchen, Mayors of 6 other cities and boroughs, Vice Chancellor of northern England universities, Manchester Consular Association members, Chinese companies, local Chinese community leaders and representatives of Chinese students.

Consul General Mr. Zheng Xiyuan, Metro Mayor Mr. Andy Burnham and Lord Mayor of Manchester Cllr. June Hitchen addressed the event.

A string quartet from Chetham’s School of Music performed Chinese and British national anthems and other classical pieces of music. Their specially composed piece ‘Belt and Road ---- A Musical Journey from Manchester to China’ was widely acclaimed by the audience.
