On February 26, Consul General Tang Rui held extensive discussions with Paul Dennett, the Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester and the Mayor of Salford, at the Consul General’s residence, on the enhancement of cooperation across various sectors.

Consul General Tang expressed that with Mayor Dennett's support, cooperation between China and Greater Manchester as well as Salford has been deepened across diverse domains in recent years, particularly through the joint hosting of multiple editions of the UK Chinese Dragon Boat Festival. This event has made significant contributions to fostering people-to-people friendship and enhancing cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Looking forward, both sides are expected to further practical cooperation in areas such as twin-city relationships, economic and trade investment, education, culture and sports. Such collaboration is expected to deliver tangible benefits for both parties.

Mayor Dennett highly commended Consul General Tang's endeavors in advancing regional cooperation between the UK and China within the consular district since assuming office. He expressed his willingness to continue working alongside Consul General Tang to diligently carry out flagship projects such as the Dragon Boat Festival and the Chinese Streamside Garden at RHS Garden Bridgewater, comprehensively advance exchanges in all fields, continuously unleash the potential for cooperation, and contribute to mutual development.

Both sides also engaged in extensive discussions on issues of mutual concern.
