Consul General Tang Rui meets with the Chetham’s School of Music delegation to China

On 12 March, Consul General Tang Rui met with the delegation of the Chetham’s School of Music at his residence, and exchanged views with its teachers and students on the cooperation of music education between the two countries and on the delegation's trip to China. Counselor Liang Yan also attendedthe meeting. 

Consul General Tang said that during their stay in China, the delegation visited the Central Conservatory of Music and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, building a bridge in music between the youths of the two countries. The delegation also visited Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou to personally experience the development and changes in China today. Through this trip, it is hoped that everyone could truly experience, perceive and understand China.

Principal Redmond said that the trip to China was an unforgettable experience for all the teachers and students. The visits to the local music schools in Beijing and Shanghai and performing with their teachers and students helped the delegation personally understand that music has no borders. The Forbidden City in Beijing, the Bund in Shanghai, the high-speed train, the Wechat Payment, etc., enabled the delegation truly feel and experience the great changes and development in China. One of the students also composed three pieces of piano repertoire, as inspired by what he had seen and heard during the trip. It was really a fruitful result. Principal Redmond expressed the hope that the School will continue to expand exchanges with Chinese partners in music education, strengthen the cooperation and interaction between the youths of the two countries in the field of music education, and promote the practice of the concept of Music Knows No Borders. 

Afterwards, both sides enjoyed a musical performance presented by the visiting students.
