Do I Need a Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China?

British nationals may visit Hong Kong without a visa and stay up to six months. However, if you wish to take up employment, establish or join a business, study or settle in Hong Kong, you have to obtain an appropriate visa before arrival. If you are not holding a British passport and want to know whether you need a visa for Hong Kong SAR of China, please log on the website of Hong Kong Immigration Department: www.immd.gov.hk and go to the "public service" section for the latest information.

How to Apply for Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China

If you would like to apply for a Visa for Hong Kong SAR , please submit their applications at the Chinese Visa Application Service Centers.

1) For Tourism or Transit

A. a completed Application Form ID 1003A (Please download from https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas.html )

B. the valid passport with at least one blank visa page as well as a photocopy of the bio data page

C. the valid UK visa acquired and a photocopy of it

D. a recent photo

E. the bank statements for last 3 months (balance should be over £500 per month)

F. a letter from your employer or school or a photocopy of your own company license

G. booking information of your return flight tickets and accommodation under your name [If you are going to stay with a friend in Hong Kong, he/she should fill the Sponsor Form ID 1003B (Please download from https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas.html). You should also provide an invitation letter from him/her as well as a photocopy of residence/stay document of his/hers in Hong Kong)

 

2) For Family Visit

A. a completed Application Form ID 1003A (Please download from https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas.html) .

B. the valid passport with at least one blank visa page as well as a photocopy of the bio data page

C. the valid UK visa acquired and a photocopy of it

D. a recent photo

E. the bank statements for last 3 months (balance should be over £500 per month)

F. a letter from your employer or school or a photocopy of your own company license

G. booking information of your return flight tickets and accommodation under your name

H. the Sponsor Form ID 1003B (Please download from https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas.html), which should be filled by your relative in Hong Kong

I. an invitation letter from your relative in Hong Kong and a photocopy of residence/stay document of his/hers in Hong Kong

 

3) For Business

A. a completed Application Form, that is ID 1003A (Please download from https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas.html) .

B. the valid passport with at least one blank visa page as well as a photocopy of the bio data page

C. the valid UK visa acquired and a photocopy of it

D. a recent photo

E. the bank statements for last 3 months (balance should be over £500 per month)

F. a letter from your employer or school or a photocopy of your own company license

G. booking information of your return flight tickets and accommodation under your name

H. the Sponsor Form ID 1003B(Please download from https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/forms/hk-visas.html) , which should be filled by your invitee in Hong Kong

I. an invitation letter from your invitee in Hong Kong

Time for processing: The normal service takes 4-20 working days. The express service takes 3 working days, but is provided conditionally.

 Nationals of some countries and regions enjoy visa-free visits to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, while nationals of other countries need to apply for a Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China. I.The copy of the Proof of employment approval by the Macao authorities. For first-time applicants, the copy of the application form of "Non-resident Worker's Authorization to Stay" that passes the examination of the Immigration Department; for renewal, the copy of the application letter of "Renewal of Non-resident Worker's Authorization to Stay" that passes the examination of the Immigration Department

 

6) For Dependent

A. a completed Application Form
