On 23 February, Consul General Tang Rui attended the "Embrace China" performance in Manchester, jointly organized by the Consulate General and the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. The event was attended by dignitaries including His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Mrs. Diane Hawkins, President of the Federation of Chinese Associations in Manchester, Ms. Lisa Yam, as well as over 1,200 members of the Chinese community, representatives of Chinese enterprises and Chinese students in the UK.
Consul General Tang stated that this wonderful performance is the best Chinese New Year gift that the Motherland can offer to overseas Chinese in the consular district, and also conveys the warmest Spring Festival greetings to all friends who care about China. He noted that following Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s successful visit to China, both sides will work together to advance China–UK relations. Guests including Mrs. Hawkins expressed their appreciation to the Chinese artists for presenting such a magnificent feast of Chinese culture.
Artistes from the China Coal Mine Art Troupe and Beijing Peking Opera Theatre presented a series of captivating performances, including instrumental ensemble ,diabolo show, Peking Opera, and Chinese dance . The audience greeted each performance with thunderous applause amid a joyous and festive atmosphere.
