On April 22, Chinese Consul General Tang Rui visited the University of Hull, met with Interim Vice-Chancellor Kevin Kerrigan, and attended Chinese WhispersTM Concert 2026.

Consul General Tang spoke highly of the university’s educational philosophy and fruitful achievements in its cooperation with China. He noted that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the 15th Five-Year Plan have drawn up a grand blueprint for China’s future development. Upholding the philosophy of high-quality development, China will continue advancing high-standard opening-up, which creates vast opportunities for educational exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK. He hoped that the University of Hull would seize the opportunity to expand the breadth and depth of cooperation with Chinese universities, and pursue high-level mutual benefits and win-win results in talent training, scientific research and innovation.

Consul General Tang and university’s top leadership attended Chinese WhispersTM Concert 2026 hosted by the Confucius Institute of the University. Participants from the university, local primary and secondary schools, and local communities gave wonderful performances together. They jointly sang classic Chinese folk songs such as Jasmine Flower.Serving as a musical bridge connecting peoples and striking resonant chords across generations, the event allowed attendees to experience the charm of the Chinese language and the profound essence of Chinese culture through immersive activities. It has further enhanced the spiritual bond and consolidated the people-to-people friendship between the two nations.
