On 29 May, Consul General Tang Rui travelled to the RHS Bridgewater Garden in Salford, Greater Manchester, to attend the ridge-closing ceremony of the Study Pavilion at the Streamside Chinese Garden and visit construction team from Yangzhou. Mr Marcus Chilton-Jones, Head of RHS Garden Bridgewater, also attended the event.

Consul General Tang Rui noted that the Streamside Chinese Garden project is a symbol of friendship and a tangible outcome of cooperation between China and the United Kingdom, particularly between Yangzhou and Salford. Upon completion, it will become the largest, most comprehensive and most authentic classical Chinese garden in Europe, further promoting cultural exchanges and closer people-to-people ties between the two sides. He thanked the construction team for overcoming various challenges while working in the UK and expressed the hope that the project would be completed on schedule and to the highest standards, serving as a fitting tribute to the formal establishment of the sister-city relationship between Yangzhou and Salford.

Launched in 2019, the Streamside Chinese Garden project aims to create a complete classical Chinese garden in Greater Manchester, modeled on the traditional gardens of Yangzhou.
