On 25 September, Consul General Tang Rui, representing Ambassador Zheng Zeguang, attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese Streamside Garden at RHS Bridgewater in Salford, Greater Manchester. The event was attended by Mrs Hawkins, Lord-Lieutenant for Greater Manchester; Sue Biggs, Director General of the Royal Horticultural Society; Paul Dennett, City Mayor of Salford; Wei Lei, Chinese Ambassador to the UK; Chen Jun, Vice Mayor of Yangzhou; Peng Hongming, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Flower Association; and other friends from various sectors.

Consul General Tang stated that the completion of the garden marked a milestone in the history of people-to-people exchanges between China and the UK. It not only witnessed the development of the sister-city relationship between Yangzhou and Salford, but also contributed to cooperation between China and Greater Manchester in various fields and the continued positive development of China-UK relations. Guests said that the garden would serve as an important window for people in the UK to experience and appreciate traditional Chinese culture at close range.

The Chinese Sreamside Garden was initiated in 2019 and is based on the traditional garden style of Yangzhou. It is the largest, most complete and most authentic classical Chinese garden in Europe.
On 24 September, Consul General Tang also attended a reception held in appreciation of those involved in the project.
