On 27 September, Consul General Tang Rui attended the opening ceremony of “China’s Borderlands”, a solo photography exhibition by Deng Yuli, held at the ESEA Contemporary. More than 80 guests attended, including political figures such as Lord Mayor of Manchester Councillor Shaukat Ali and former Lord Mayor of Manchester Katharine Robinson, as well as friendly personages from various sectors of the local community.

Consul General Tang said that China has a vast territory, a long border and a unique and magnificent landscape. From the snow-covered plateaus to the vast deserts, from the depths of the Gobi to remote border villages, the exhibition captures through photography the natural landscapes and everyday life along China’s borders, opening a window for the British public to gain a deeper understanding of China. Lord Mayor Ali, who had recently returned from his first visit to China, said that his recent visit to Wuhan had been a great success and that he was deeply impressed by the city’s economic and social development.

The exhibition runs for one week, displaying more than 50 photographs in total, and is open to the local public free of charge.
