On 19 September, Consul General Tang Rui was invited to attend the 3rd Manchester Mid-Autumn Cultural Festival, held in Manchester’s Chinatown. Councillor Wakefield of Manchester City Council, community leaders and nearly 10,000 local residents attended the event.

Consul General Tang joined other guests in the opening ceremony and said that the full moon of the Mid-Autumn Festival symbolises reunion and happiness. He expressed his pleasure at celebrating the festival with everyone in the beautiful city of Manchester by admiring the full moon, enjoying mooncakes and appreciating lanterns. He hoped that everyone would enjoy the wonderful performances and immersive activities and experience the charm of traditional Chinese festival culture. Councillor Wakefield and other guests spoke highly of the positive contribution made by Chinese community activities, including the festival, to local economic development and harmonious coexistence among different communities.

This year's Mid-Autumn Cultural Festival lasted two days. The organizers carefully designed four themes — "Seeking the Moon, Admiring the Moon, Passing on the Moon, and Sealing the Moon" — and added performances of Chinese culture including Qinqiang Opera, Kunqu Opera, and Sichuan Opera face-changing, offering the local public an immersive experience of Chinese culture.
